Before we leave behind the first week of January, it's worthwhile to take a look at what is on the legal horizon for employers and employees in 2011.
Employment law cases continue to make their way to the US Supreme Court's docket with regularity, new laws and regulations are enacted, and things in general continue to evolve. We are not, however, looking at any looming sea changes.
Here are some nice summaries from my fellow bloggers. Patrick Smith of the Iowa Employment Law Blog has some thoughts on discrimination litigation trends.
The Ohio Employer's Law Blog looks forward, if you will, by looking back to the top 10 labor and employment themes from 2010. The link is just to numbers 1 and 2. You'll have to work backwards through the posts to find 3 through 10.
The estimable Daniel Schwartz of the Connecticut Employment Law Blog looks forward and suggests that we all stick to our knitting, focusing on getting the basics right and adjusting to new developments — they always come along, after all — as the need arises.
And that, to my mind, is sound advice.
