Inruley Passengers
The FAA continues to crack down on unruly passengers on airline flights. Their policy is zero tolerance and they mean it. It does not take much bad behavior to be deemed an “unruly passenger.” Basically, it means that the passenger misbehaves in a way that diverts the cabin crew from the usual performance of their duties. Incidents may result in the police being called to meet the passenger on landing. Civil penalties are assessed, and they can range well into five figures. The numbers that we are seeing currently range from $15,000 to $30,000 and up. In some cases the TSA gets involved and suspends passenger Pre-Check and Global Entry clearances. Some cases are even considered serious enough for referral to the FBI for criminal investigation.
