Steinberg Law, LLC recently helped a director-level employee who lost his position with a Fortune 50 company in a corporate downsizing. He was given a generous severance package. Before the severance had been paid, the employer informed him that it was concerned that trade secret material may have been taken through downloading of computer files. The company threatened litigation.
We Were Able to Successfully Negotiate a Resolution
Although the client readily admitted to downloading files, he steadfastly denied taking any trade secrets or confidential information. Upon being retained, we immediately opened a line of communication with the employer. It took some time, but we were able to negotiate a mechanism by which the employer was able to satisfy itself that its trade secrets had not been compromised, litigation was avoided, and the severance was paid to our client. A good result all the way around.
